Complete R.E.P.O. Strategy Guide — Tips, Mechanics & Hidden Features

I Built a R.E.P.O. Item & Monster Database (And Why This Game's Physics Are Hilariously Brutal)

Been diving deep into R.E.P.O. lately — you know, the co-op horror extraction game where you and your friends are tiny robots collecting stuff while physics-based monsters hunt you down. After losing way too many runs because nobody knew what items were worth grabbing versus what would get us killed, I decided to build a proper strategy guide.

The tech side was actually fun to figure out:

  • R.E.P.O.'s value system isn't random at all — there are clear item tiers that determine your extraction quota
  • Monster behavior patterns follow specific triggers (sound, movement, line-of-sight) that you can map out
  • The physics engine means item placement matters more than you'd think — stacking heavy objects wrong will literally crush your team

I ended up creating a full monster weakness guide and item database over at repo-item-guide with breakdowns for every creature and lootable object. The most useful part? A team comp planner that helps you figure out who grabs what based on the physics weight limits.

Honestly the hardest part wasn't the coding — it was testing strategies without getting wiped by the Huntsman for the 50th time. That thing's pathfinding is nasty once it locks onto sound cues.

Anyone else been experimenting with different team loadouts? Curious what strats people are using for the later extractions — we keep arguing about whether speed upgrades are actually worth it over carrying capacity.
