I Built an ARK 2 Wiki Because I Killed My First T-Rex By Accident

I rage-quit ARK 2 three times before I actually understood how the game works.

First attempt: spawned in, punched a Dodo, got killed by a Raptor 90 seconds later. Second attempt: tamed a Parasaur, felt good about myself, wandered into Therizinosaurus territory, got deleted. Third attempt: finally tamed a Pteranodon, was flying around, accidentally landed near a Giganotosaurus — you can guess how that ended.

After the third rage quit, I started taking notes. Those notes turned into ARK 2 Wiki — a straightforward survival reference with no Fandom bloat.

Stuff that's actually useful:

  • 45+ creature guides — taming methods, preferred food, knockout thresholds, and what each creature is actually good for (not just stat blocks — like "Ankylosaurus is the best metal farmer, point it at a metal node and thank me later")
  • Taming calculator — input the creature level and weapon type, get the exact number of tranq arrows/darts you need
  • Breeding and mutation guide — how to stack mutations without losing your sanity
  • Base building strategies — PvP defense layouts, PvE efficiency setups, hidden spots on the map

Biggest thing I learned:

The game doesn't explain taming effectiveness AT ALL. If you use the wrong food or let the creature take damage while it's unconscious, you lose levels on the final tame. A level 150 Rex tamed with raw meat becomes like level 210, but with Kibble it hits 224. That's a 14-level difference that the game never tells you about.

Also, Gigas are overrated for most content. A mutated Rex line with imprint bonus will handle 95% of the game's bosses. Gigas are just for flexing on your tribemates.

Site is free, no ads, no signup. If you're new to ARK 2 or just want to check creature stats without loading up the game, give it a look.
