Subnautica 2 Survival Guide: What I Learned on 4546B

I drowned in the first five minutes of Subnautica 2. I looked at a pretty fish, forgot oxygen existed, and died 15 meters from my lifepod. 80 hours later, here's everything I wish I'd known.

The First Hour

Your top priority: Scanner, Survival Knife, Fins, Oxygen Tank. The Scanner unlocks every blueprint. Do not build a base immediately — I rebuilt three times and wasted hours.

Leviathans

They track by sound and movement, not sight. Perimeter Defense System is mandatory. Ghost Leviathans patrol fixed paths — learn their routes. Abyssal Leviathans use sonar — if you hear the ping, stop moving.

Base Building

Best locations: near thermal vents in Tree Cove, or Mushroom Forest edge. Moonpool, Scanner Room, Alien Containment, Water Filtration Machine — in that order. Skip the Nuclear Reactor.

Vehicle Build Order

Seaglide → Seamoth (Storage Module first) → Prawn Suit (Drill + Grapple) → Cyclops (optional, I barely used mine).

Resources

Copper. Always. Titanium from Kelp Forest salvage. Lithium from Mushroom Forest. Kyanite — mine every deposit in the Lava Zone. Gold and Silver from sandstone outcrops.

For the complete deep-dive on builds, all Leviathan strategies, hidden caches, and biome guides, everything is at guide-subnautica-2-7b8.pages.dev.
