Both AWS and Azure run ColdFusion 2025 well — there is no technical blocker on either cloud. The real decision is commercial and architectural. AWS gives you the broadest ecosystem, the most mature container and serverless tooling, and a large free egress tier (100 GB/month). Azure gives you Azure Hybrid Benefit — a licensing discount that can cut Windows Server VM costs by an average of 36% and up to 80% when stacked with Reserved VM Instances — which is a significant structural cost advantage for the majority of ColdFusion enterprises already running Windows Server licenses with Software Assurance. ColdFusion’s own licensing cost is now fixed at $760/year (Standard) or $2,930/year (Enterprise) per server, subscription-only since February 2025, and is cloud-agnostic — it doesn’t change based on which cloud you choose.
