Viber for B2B: Dead Channel or Free Lunch?

Viber for B2B: Dead Channel or Free Lunch?

Mention Viber in any marketing chat and people laugh. Fair enough. But here is what I noticed about channels everyone abandons: whoever stays gets the whole room.

We tested Viber for B2B outreach for three weeks. The numbers came out strange enough that I decided to write them up. Full version with all tables lives here: https://www.24go.site/blog/viber-b2b-outreach-dead-or-underrated?locale=en

Why it can work

Zero competition. Our test messages landed in inboxes where the last business message arrived... never. Compare that with Telegram, where every active user gets several cold pitches a week.

Absurd open rates. We measured 68% reads within a day on Viber against 31% on cold Telegram outreach. Smaller sample, sure - but the gap is too wide to ignore.

And the audience has money. The Viber core in our region is 30-55 years old. Not students. Business owners. The people who sign contracts.

Honest limits, no sugarcoating

  1. No member export. Unlike Telegram or WhatsApp, you cannot pull a Viber community member list. We collected semi-manually and it was slow. If someone sells you a "Viber parser", ask for a live demo first.
  2. Almost no automation tooling. No warm-up services, no mature multi-accounts, no schedulers worth trusting. Hands only.
  3. Opaque ban policy. Viber cuts suspicious activity without warning or clear appeal. One of our two test numbers got limited after 60 messages in a day. Lesson learned: stay under 30-40 per day per number.

What actually worked

Replies in public Viber communities: 21 out of 120. DMs to hand-collected numbers: 19 out of 85. A channel post with a lead magnet: 14 inbound from 900 views. Nothing we run - email, Telegram, LinkedIn - comes close on reply rate.

The catch is scale. You cannot push much past ~200 messages a day without ban risk, and collection is manual. Viber is a sniper rifle, not a machine gun. How it compares with WhatsApp for B2B: https://www.24go.site/blog/whatsapp-vs-telegram-dlya-b2b-lidogeneratsii?locale=en

My take: Viber will not replace main channels. As a second touch - "hey, I am reachable here too" - it is the most responsive messenger placement right now. Exactly because nobody is there.

What is the most "dead" channel that ever worked for you?
