Transitioning to remote work was pretty tough for me. I had pretty good in-between activities that I did after work and before going home. In that time, I usually exercised or had dinner with coworkers (usually on Fridays).

However, working remote makes establishing these kinds of "in-between" activities difficult since I'm home all the time. I've had to give up on trying to force an "office at home" regimen and instead established a routine that works with the nature of remote work + flexible hours. E.g, I often nap at around 2pm to recharge and then take long break at 6pm to exercise and have dinner. Then I get back get back to work from around 8pm-9:30pm to focus on creative work with no interruptions.

This transition wasn't easy and took a lot of trial-and-error. But after 3+ years working remote, I've gotten fairly comfortable with it. Although, I'd still prefer a hybrid environment (2 days at the office) since I do enjoy the office culture, but that's not an option for me right now šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

I used to spend a lot more time in traffic, now I use that time to hangout with my dog and spouse, it's great.
Also, people don't come up to me and ask me random questions while I'm trying to focus on getting my work done.

I have always worked remotely from the start of my career, though occasionally I'm called into the office (2 hours away) and it's quite the adjustment working in the same space with other people! I realise now how much I need to talk to myself to code, listen to music, and...uh... pick my nose ;)
