Top 5 DEV Comments from the Past Week

This is a weekly roundup of awesome DEV comments that you may have missed. You are welcome and encouraged to boost posts and comments yourself using the #bestofdev tag.

@marydee2001 helped fill my focus playlist...

It's not everyone's cup of tea but I quite like extreme metal when I'm coding. It wasn't something I listened to much before but I find that the heavy repetitive sounds get me into a rhythm. Most of all there's no distracting vocals - just a death growl or scream! It works for me anyway.

Blessings to @daniel13rady and their loyal pet spud who kept them company during CodeLand:Distributed last week.

My sweet, sweet potato! :3 One of the stalks is George.

@downey has a pretty solid gameplan.

Generally:

  • Make enough money to be comfortable
  • Continue to have health insurance
  • Not stagnate

This year:
At the beginning of the year I blogged about some goals I want to achieve in 2020. Things have changed since January, but for the most part they remain the same.

  • Get better at the Go programming language
  • Get better at Kubernetes
  • Learn more about distributed systems
  • Get healthier physically

@jopacicdev shared their first article on DEV after a year of being part of the community 🎉

I finally got the courage to write my first blog post on dev.to after being a member for 1+ year. It's been an awesome effort, and I really enjoyed it -- along the way I learned new things, figured out that writing posts is waaay harder than writing code, got myself someone more experienced to review it and help me with wording (but not make it formal).

Finally, here it is!

So happy for @sharthagod! They attended their first conference ever last week! I am very humbled that it was CodeLand:Distributed 😊

I stayed all 11 plus hours!!! My FIRST conf. SO so grateful!!!

See you next week for more great comments ✌

I love how @daniel13rady 's potato looks like an art installment. Anytime I let potatoes go that long they look more like compost.

Daniel's comment kind of made my week. In the midst of a bunch of dog and cat pics, there was a potato! Spuds don't get enough pet love these days.
