Hi everyone!
Welcome to the dev.to-community!
I'm Martin, and I worked as a Senior Front End Architect and Engineering Manager at one of the world's largest digital agencies, where I led Front End Teams for international projects. After 15 years, I quit my job. Now I travel the world as a professional scuba diver, work as a freelance Front End Tech Lead and technical Recruiter for international clients. Besides that, I write about technology.
My latest book about Modern Full Stack development will be published in October by No Stach Press. It's an easy, hands-on introduction to creating web applications with Next.js, MongoDB and Mongoose (there's currently a 25% Discount!). You can read more about how to become a published author in my upcoming article about writing books.
On dev.to I'm publishing a weekly periodical, the "WebDevDigest: A curated list of the top five web development must-reads from last week", which keeps you up to date on current web development trends and "LevelUp: Elevate your Career Today" where I give Career and Interview advice based on my experience as Engineering Manager and Technical Recruiter.
If I have enough time, I write more in-depth articles, for example how to create multi-language pages with next export, which is on GitHub:next-export-i18n and npmjs: next-export-i18n
I recommend following the general tags webdev, vscode , career and productivity and javascript, react, CSS. Head over to your Dashboard and adjust the tag weight to personalize your home feed.
Here's a list of articles to start your journey as a successful developer and a great writer:
If you are looking for your next job, I highly recommend buying the Book De-Coding the Technical Interview Process by Emma Bostian. It is hands down the best preparation for every technical interview.
If you're interested in my articles, follow me on dev.to/martinkr or twitter.com/_martinkr.
If you have questions or want to get in touch, don't hesitate to contact me on dev.to/martinkr.
And remember to start posting today!
Cheers!
Hi Martin!
Your introduction was like opening a Pandora's box of immense knowledge and adventurous life experiences! It's like watching Indiana Jones, but instead of archaeology, you're unearthing the secrets of the Front End universe.
Hi! Thank that you like it.
wow.... I love your career trajectory....massive and fun experience.....would love to connect with you more, can't wait for your book
Great one buddy

Hello to you all,
Computers where my first love when I was 16YO, since then I could not let it go. Started at WANG inc. as trainee developing software to archive all the driver floppies from 1,2 Mb 5" afterward, I was a few years’ service engineer. However, my health was getting worse by the day so I couldn’t work anymore. Since then, I do everything at home. Keeping track of new hard and software. 10 years ago, the first home automation was started. That is my big passion now, developing hard and software to make living and life easier. The next project will be digital health monitoring to assist the overcrowded health sector.
Hello all! I am Janko, I'm a developer and sort of a language-nut. I've programmed in many languages over the years. Currently I am working on my own dynamic language based on ideas from Rebol, Factor and Linux shell. It's called Rye - here is a blog about it, there is of course also a github repo and also a rather new reddit group for the language.
For my "job" I mostly work on web (front and back) and also mobile development (android).
Welcome to the community
Hey y'all! I'm Natalie. I'm a newbie and looking to learn and practice coding as much as possible. I am thinking of starting with Python and then JavaScript... but I am also green and naive! So keep me honest.
Since pictures help with engagement... here's one of me when I was lucky enough to visit Chennai, India late last year :)
Why I'm here: My best friend and co-founder are in the very early stages of starting a business, and I want to be able to pull my weight on the product/tech side. I also think it will be fun to actually build something I care about! I'm hoping to give myself tiny projects to complete because typical learning is way too boring for me. I need to be doing/creating for things to really stick.
A little about me: I have a strong background in business, HR, and leadership, but have only ever interacted with development on the surface level. I've always wanted to do it myself and have considered (and even applied to) coding bootcamps, but I never had the courage and/or it never felt like the right time to go all in. I was exposed to Python in b-school, so seemed like a good place to start. I'm so determined to learn!
Any advice? I'm starting to learn Python through the ebook Automate the Boring Stuff. I'm open to all the advice on what you wish you would have known or any of your experiences learning to code that might help me! Seems like this community has some badass wisdom.
Cheers!
Hey Natalie, welcome!

Hi Everyone,
I'm a software developer currently exploring the world of Gameboy game development.
I've played around with a lot of the different game engines like Unreal, Unity, (a tiny bit of) godot, and have been making games since adobe flash. While i do have an unreal project on the side, i'm currently getting involved in the Gameboy homebrew community. Despite it being over 30 years old.
It's cool to see what people can make with it. It's far more active than i would have expected. I've been writing a tutorial series, and also have started a youtube channel.
The library i'm using is called GBDK-2020. It's a free library that utilizes C. I encourage anybody interested in game development and/or in retro gaming to try it out.
I'm also on social media, where i'll post my tutorials and share other retro content.
Hello!
Monty here. I'm a children's musician / algebra instructor coming to iOS Dev as a new career path late in life. My immediate goal is to create a calendar app to help my elderly mom, who can no longer understand time. I'm taking the iOS Dev nanodegree at Udacity.com. I posted my story here.
Yesterday I completed my very first assignment requiring me to build a simple app from scratch! I live-blogged the process here.
My first coding experience was learning BASIC on a ZX-81. Anyone remember those?
I'd Love to Connect With...

Hello. I really love programming and am actively looking for a company to add value to. I am a programmer with 8 years of experience, 2 of which focused on web development and the other years focused on R&D prototype development.
Here are a couple of websites I created for my side projects:
AustinColeman.dev - My resume website
RepRecorder.dev - A workout tracking website I recently created as a side project
Open in Chordify for YouTube Music™ - A chrome extension that makes it easier to open songs in Chordify directly from YouTube Music™, rather than manually copying and pasting the URL.
If you are looking for a developer to add to your team, I would love to contribute.
