This week has been the culmination of a lot of studying, praying, and support from some awesome people around me.
Win 1 โ I quit a stable job (just got promoted too) last year to pursue development because I was genuinely un-fulfilled in what I was doing each day. Through that transition found I really enjoy doing front-end development and this week everything paid off! I just got hired full-time as a Front End Designer / Developer at a company I deeply admire and respect. I genuinely can't wait to start working there.
Win 2 โ Over the last few months I also discovered a love for writing about design, code, and productivity. This week I got a badge for 16 weeks of consistent posts. I love being a part of this supportive community. I learn so much more from all of you than I could ever give back. Looking forward to keeping the writing journey going.
Got promoted to Senior Software Engineer!
Congratulations ๐ bro go ahead ๐
Got a new job! Spent a month being unemployed, which I feel extremely blessed it wasn't longer. But during that month I found out I'd been taking less than half of what I could have been for a salary, and I hadn't realized how toxic my old job was getting until after I left. They'd just about convinced me that I wasn't cognitively capable of programming at all.
Spent the month submitting applications and contributing to open source to keep my skills sharp, and found that I loved development again, and now I've started this job and I feel passionate about software dev again!
So glad you got out of a toxic situation and are feeling passionate again!
Nice work Mike! Finding a great job can take time, hey. A place where we feel empowered to give it our best.
Contributions to open source really do help web devs stand out. Proves that you can use github on a team and that's a big advantage.
Sounds like it's also helped you with motivation too? How do you think it's helped most?
Absolutely! I've found that it helped me to not only help me stand out in my job search, but it helped prove to myself that I really enjoy writing code. Rust seems to be the language my brain thinks in, so being able to work on rust projects and just see things click into place was a massive first step into rebuilding my confidence.
Now, I'm seeing how the team I'm on work together and really lift each other up, either through directly helping on a story, or just through words of encouragement or expressing appreciation. It's been huge for me to join in on that and see how it boosts morale and motivation.
Fixing multiple bugs yep of course but also advanced on my website and some projects. ๐๐ฅฐ
And took the air this weekend in the mountains. ๐
Great work!

This was a good week and would've loved that I had more time.
Good job ๐
Honestly, I don't even know where to start. So I'll make a list.
Man and the week is not even over yet! Still, 48 hours to get a lot more done! :)
Passed my AWS Solutions Architect Associate exam!

My post got featured in a meme, so that's a pretty big win I guess ๐
I helped identify and fix the build system for the FreeBSD installer ISOs so that users with Legacy BIOS hardware can still boot the installation media and install a fresh copy of FreeBSD :)
I'll have a full write up of this entire process later this weekend probably.
Finally got my game Omission packaged for both Windows and Linux (Flatpak!!). (Mac should be straight forward, but I'll need one of my teammate's help, since I don't own a Mac.)

May not sound like a big deal until I mention I've been trying to package this since 2017.
๐ Launched another project this week: inmyb.io
Itโs one Iโve wanted to work on for years but was never quite sure what the format of it should be but I figured it out this week and got a reservation page out so you can register your interest, join the queue and reserve your username!
Looking forward to getting stuck in and building something that will hopefully be useful to a lot of people.
This week I implemented a new feature that my manager thought ran so smooth that I had upgraded the hardware. Same old hardware, just good code ๐
Completed two new blog articles and worked on some React and Flutter projects.
Nice ๐
This week I'm once again one of the weekly winners of @devdojo initiative "Write a post and Get Paid!" - which you can all check here devdojo.com/featured/info
It's great that with the help of an RSS feed you can post your content of @devdojo and re-post the article here on DEV as well!
