Certification for Architects: Unveiling 10 Expert Tips and Tricks

Efficiently organizing the preparation process for the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification, or any certification, involves a mix of strategies and techniques. Here are some recommendations, tips, and tricks to help you make the most of your preparation.

1. Create a Study Plan

  • Begin by setting clear goals and a realistic timeline for your preparation.

  • Break down the syllabus into manageable sections and allocate time for each.

I use Notion software for structuring my projects and tasks. Notion offers a practical solution for project and task management, seamlessly integrated with notes and documents. It provides a centralized platform where I can efficiently manage my work without the need to switch between multiple tools. Notion’s customizable templates and flexible views make it user-friendly, allowing to tailor it to my specific project management needs. It’s especially beneficial for breaking down large projects into manageable tasks and maintaining clarity and collaboration within teams. Here is how it looks. Please overview several screenshots of my setup.

2. Utilize Official Documentation and Resources

  • Microsoft provides official documentation and training materials. These should be your primary sources for study.

  • Take advantage of virtual labs and hands-on exercises to gain practical experience.

3. Mind Maps and Note-taking

  • Creating mind maps can be an excellent way to visualize complex concepts and their relationships.

  • Additionally, maintain organized notes summarizing key points and essential details.

I prefer using the Miro. Miro streamlines mind mapping with templates, real-time collaboration, and integration with productivity tools. It enables easy creation, sharing, and enhancement of mind maps for efficient teamwork and idea visualization. I am sharing with you one of my Miro boards with mind map that I made when preparing to AZ-700 and AZ-104 exams, specifically for Azure Networking.

4. Practice with Sample Exams

  • Seek out practice exams and questions related to the certification. These can help you gauge your knowledge and test-taking skills.

  • Analyze your mistakes and areas where you need improvement.

5. Join Online Communities

  • Participate in forums, discussion groups, or social media communities dedicated to Azure and the certification.

  • You can gain insights, share experiences, and ask questions to clarify doubts.

6. Hands-On Practice

  • Apply what you learn by working on real-world scenarios. Build and manage Azure solutions to reinforce your understanding.

  • Consider setting up a personal Azure sandbox environment for experimentation.

  • Take practice exams under timed, exam-like conditions to get a feel for the test environment.

  • Periodically review previously covered topics to reinforce your memory and understanding.

Here, it’s worth mentioning that Microsoft Azure provides plenty of services available for free. That’s enough to try Azure solutions and hone your hands-on experience.

  • Avoid cramming, as it may lead to temporary retention without a deep understanding.

8. Seek Guidance and Mentorship

  • Connect with experienced Azure professionals who can offer guidance and mentorship.

  • They can provide valuable insights and advice based on their certification journeys.

9. Stay Updated
