How do young people make money?
Brother! Money is the result, not the cause. Once you own the means of production, money keeps flowing in on its own. In traditional industries, the means of production are technology patents, brands, interest on capital, rent, client orders, supply chains, distribution channels... everything that can make money without you personally doing the labor. That's how one big boss I know summed it up.
If you choose to work a job, then ages 25 to 35 — those ten years — are the most valuable years of your life. After 35, you start just scraping by.
(Even programmers are no exception. Capitalists will never let programmers fully control the tools of production. Any mature business entity instinctively avoids over-dependence on any single element. Division of labor, objectively speaking, does disperse and weaken any individual's absolute control over the means of production — meaning the code and the systems.)
If instead you choose the "shortcut" of figuring out how to own means of production, then after 35 you have a real chance of not ending up miserable — maybe even living very comfortably.
And right now, creating means of production out of thin air has become easy. It's AI! When an ordinary person runs into an opportunity, their first reaction is always: "Can I do this?" The first reaction of people who actually make money is: "Who can?" And as it happens, AI can do almost everything.
Take bankstatementconverter.com, a site a friend shared recently. It's an AI-built SaaS site making $40K a month in profit (figures reported by the media outlet Indie Dev Frontline), developed by a guy from Hong Kong.
