Day 1197 : Solar Power

liner notes:

  • Professional : No clue where the day went. Had 2 back to back meetings. Then there was an All Hands meeting less than an hour later. That was like an hour and a half. I did some research on a project. I was notified that I'll be doing a demo for something I was working on awhile back in a meeting coming up next week. I looked and found a deployed demo, so I'll be using that. Nice. One less thing on my plate. Shouts to past Dwane and my coworker. haha. Next thing I know, the day is over.

  • Personal : Just 3D printing and getting orders ready to be packed and shipped. Also did some work to prepare for this week's radio show.

A stunning night landscape under a brilliant, star-filled sky, with the Milky Way prominently visible. In the foreground, two imposing red rock formations stand silhouetted against the celestial backdrop; one is tall and narrow with a bulbous top, resembling a balanced rock, while the other is wider and more rounded. The terrain around the formations appears arid, complementing the vastness of the night sky. The setting appears to be Arches National Park in Utah, USA.

So, today was the day that I decided I would try to see if I could run some 3D printers on solar power. I saw a video or something with someone doing it and I thought, "Hey, I have solar generators and panels. Let me try it!". The problem is that it was cloudy and rainy for most of the day. haha Had more than a few hiccups. Good news is that even though the solar power only trickled in for most of the day, I was able to run 2 printers printing a 2 and a half hours models, twice on one solar generator with one solar panel. I was so pleased with the outcome, that I looked to purchase another solar panel and an extra battery that I could hook up to it. Sidenote: it looks like I can't connect another solar panel. I came across the manufacturer's site and saw they are actually have a sale. Lucky me! After doing some research on prices, I landed on buying a combo that has a newer version of the solar generator and 2 solar panels. The amount saved is actually more than the final purchase price. So over 50% off! I'm thinking with the setup I'll have, I may be able to at least run all the smaller 3D printers completely off solar. Got the last set of prints finishing up. Going to work on the radio show some more, do some research on future projects I'd like to develop and maybe get to bed early. I keep saying that but it never happens. haha I'm out! Going to get something to eat.

Have a great night!

peace piece
