Day 1298 : Get Up

liner notes:

  • Professional : Had a couple of back to back meetings in the afternoon, but other than that I was deep into the code. Cleaned up the code of the new feature for a Web Component that I created and published a new version. After that, I went down a rabbit hole to figure out how to remove a panel from my WebXR scene. I saw add, show and hide methods, but I could not find something to remove the panel. Following the "extends" Classes back to the Threejs documentation where I found the add method and on that page, I found remove. When I added it to my code, it worked just like I wanted. Awesome! With that added, the MVP of my application is good to go. I went to the web application in my Galaxy XR head set and everything worked. The headset experience revealed that there's some UI modifications that I need to add that I didn't run into using the Browser Simulator. I'm making my addition to the demo is all compartmentalized into one js file. This sample application is going to be used in a video, but I want to write a blog post on what I'm building and put it in a bare bones stripped down application so that way, I can focus on the code I'm working on. As a byproduct of this sample application, I created a sample server that can be set up and used in other projects.

  • Personal : I didn't get too much done last night. Did some research on financial and retirement topics and went down a bunch of rabbit holes.

A warm, golden-hour view looking down over the intricate gray-tiled rooftops of a traditional Chinese old town. The multi-tiered wooden buildings feature classic upturned eaves and are illuminated by glowing orange lanterns and interior lights as dusk settles. Lush green trees are nestled between the historic structures, and rolling hills are visible in the soft, hazy background under a fading twilight sky. The setting is the Old Town of Li Jiang, Yunnan Province, China.

Right after getting off work, I knocked out a couple of models for this item I'm building so I can print them tomorrow. There's an artwork layout project I want to get some work done, but the online version of Photoshop doesn't open pdf files, so I need to use the downloaded application version and that's on a computer I don't normally use at night. I'll probably just download it on my laptop and put together something show I can show the artist by this weekend for some feedback. Going to get to work and get to bed early because I need to get up and be in a lot of meetings tomorrow.

Have a great night!

peace piece
