  • Professional : Pretty good day. Had a couple of meetings with the team and it was good to see everyone. I was able to demo the new functionality that I added to a Web Component. Everything worked perfectly and folks seemed to like it. For the rest of the day, I worked on the WebXR sample app. I recorded a demo video of the application and sent it to my manager. They liked it. By the end of the day, I was able to add a separate exit demo panel to make it easier to leave/end the demo when in the headset. The thing that took a while was trying to figure out how to switch states on the panel in a 3D space. It's not like a regular DOM that I am used to. I was working with Google's Gemini AI to try and figure things out and it helped get me to a point, but then it wanted to refactor some code to totally redraw the whole view when I only wanted to switch out a part of it. Before implementing it's proposed changes, I looked through the docs more and found a method and decided to try it. It worked! I told Gemini and it said that my solution was much cleaner and less resource intensive. Just another example to myself to not just have blind faith in what AI suggests. I've been learning a lot though.

  • Personal : Last night, I went down another rabbit hole with some research into retirement and financial topics. I started some work on the design project I'm putting together. I also looked through Bandcamp for projects to pick up this week. It's been so dark and cold that I haven't really gotten a lot accomplished.

I printed the 3D models that I created and they were okay. They were kind of think and one piece broke off. I definitely need to add some thickness to it. It also gave me a good place to continue building the other parts. I'm thinking that I may have Google's Nano Banana see if it can come up with a design layout for the packaging and labels of a 7" project. Going to upload the different assets and see what it can come up with. Maybe it will be something good. While it's doing that, I want to put together the social media posts for the projects I'm going to pick up on Bandcamp so I can post them tomorrow. I also want to start putting together tracks for the radio show. Got a lot to do. Going to eat dinner and get started.
