Professional : Started the day with an informal meeting with some team members and hung out for a little. It was good catching up with folks. Next I responded to some community questions. After that, I got a message from someone on the engineering team about some version updates that weren't on a release notes page. Looks like someone forgot to notify us that there were some new releases. I got the info and updated the site so that it will update with the next release of the documentation site. I had an idea for another team member for what they are working on and told them about and discussed it. Finally, I refactored an older demo application to use new credentials. Normally, it's a pretty quick process, but this one uses images and the links used in the older version didn't work anymore. I used Google Gemini's Nano Banana to generate some images and added them to the application itself so that they will always be available. Pretty productive day.
Personal : Last night, I bought Bandcamp projects and put together the social media posts that I posted to different platforms today. I had a coding session with Google Gemini. I told it what I was looking to do and links that I found while researching and where in the code I think things should go. It said what I was thinking was on the right track, but told me about a feature in Firebase called Firestore Triggers in Functions. It's been a minute since I've really created apps using different Firebase offerings especially Functions. With Firestore Triggers, I wouldn't need to modify any code in a file if I were to do it the old way that I knew. AI has helped me learn about new features in different services I've used.
Got the email to place the deposit on the vinyl I'm ordering. I paid it. Now there's some other approval stuff I need to do before I can upload the files. Going to try and get that done ASAP so they can start pressing the records. It takes a while. I'm also going to put together the radio show for tomorrow. I believe the artist also sent over the files for the other vinyl project they want to get pressed so I want to review those. I want to implement the code that Google Gemini and I put together and test out the transactional email sending capability. I think I may need to set up some more stuff with the email service provider. We'll see. Going to get this vinyl process going, eat dinner and get the rest of the things on my list crossed off.
