After long time, Beyond AI non-sense, I am reading something which truly enjoyable and interesting. Thanks for writing that. I felt I learned something today.
This projects sounds amazing and truly I need that now, because I bought a new SSD😂.
Kudos to you and your team for the hard work and give it free for a community.
[If possible, Please try to develop product for encrypting the files for personal users. I'm actually struggling find right app encryption store some of my personal data's government issued document and offer letter etc ...
Issues with current products:
1) Simple product are much expensive and mainly for enterprise purpose.
2) Free and open source are very very hard to encrypt and decrypt. Simply they are not suitable for day to day usage.
Maybe you add this feature as part of "Multi Drive"]
Thank you so much for such warm words! It’s always nice to know that what you do matters to people. I’ll pass on your idea, and maybe it will become one of the features in the next update!
It's been a whole awesome journey for me since the moment of inception till the release! Our vision was to build a utility that is:
Zero ads, zero upselling, zero BS. Full-featured cloning, backup, and drive wiping with CLI support - all for free. Why pay monthly subscriptions for tools that should just work out of the box?
Solid technical review!
It's refreshing to see a comprehensive disk management solution that actually consolidates multiple functions effectively.
The unified approach you've outlined here could really streamline system maintenance workflows.
Well-written analysis of the key features and performance aspects.
Thank you!
So glad to see this project finally released — I can only imagine how much time and effort went into it. Huge respect to the whole team, you all did an amazing job! 🙌

Thanks for the great article! As a junior developer, it's really interesting to see how things work in an experienced dev team.
Just followed you! :)
Thank you, Alex!
pretty cool seeing a small idea turn into real software like this tbh always makes me ask myself what keeps folks grinding through those long stretches when progress is slow
Thanks!
Incredible deep dive ..
Love the transparency here, especially why you chose Avalonia and the focus on 'lovable' over just viable. Any plans to open source parts of MultiDrive or its test tooling?
Thank you! We don’t have any plans to open-source it at the moment, but who knows, maybe we’ll consider it in the future.
Fun fact: This started life as "CloneDrive" 😄 The name evolved as we kept adding features such as backup, erase, multiple simultaneous tasks, pause/resume.
Great looking application and great to have a tool like this which just does the job without nag screens and the like.
Did you ever consider 7-Zip format instead of Zip?
