Recently, I did my first-ever cohort live coding session and attempted a timed full-stack challenge. The code wasn’t the only test.
It was also about:
👀 Can you keep coding while being watched?
🔄 Can you recover quickly when you make a mistake?
🧠 Can you manage tradeoffs without spiraling into perfectionism?
⚖️ Can you choose a workflow that keeps you shipping even when the UI + backend both fight for time?
I made a detailed YouTube recap with chapters covering:
📝 The application process
🧩 The meeting structure
🤖 Were we allowed to use AI?
🧪 The tech challenge
🧰 The tech stack
⏱️ The pressure
🎯 The outcome for me & my hopes
✅ A couple of recommendations
I also share limited-scope reflections from follow-up conversations afterward - clearly framed as personal perspective, not official results.
At the end of the video, I share personal thoughts and dilemmas on whether to use AI heavily, or set strict boundaries so you don’t get too reliant on it.
If you’ve never participated in this type of job interview, have a look so you know what to expect if you ever find yourself booked to attend one.
