India just minted a new company every 77 seconds in September. 33,595 new companies were registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, up about 12% a day on August and 9% on September last year. That brings 2026 to roughly 292,572 new companies so far. Every one of them is a brand-new business, and a potential B2B lead the day it registers.
Here's where they formed, what they build, and who's behind them.

At about 1,120 a day, September was the busiest month of the year so far. The fastest-rising sector this month was Construction (+20%), and the fastest-rising big state was Tamil Nadu (+18%).

|---|---|
| IT & software services | 4,968 |
| Manufacturing | 4,170 |
| Wholesale trade | 3,822 |
| Professional services | 2,800 |

Who's behind them
September's companies were formed by 74,400 directors, about 2.3 per company. 62% were first-time directors (45,778), and the rest were returning directors already running other companies (28,622). Each of those directors is a reachable contact the day their company registers, which is what turns a new registration into a fresh sales lead.
Spotlight: women on new boards
30% of the directors on September's new companies were women, close to three in ten, a share worth tracking month on month.
The takeaways
- Formation is accelerating. The daily run-rate is up about 12% month on month.
- It is a services and trade story. IT, manufacturing, wholesale and retail dominate.
- Founders start fresh. About 62% of new-company directors are first-timers.
