Finally, a photo manager that doesn't want my data

I've been meaning to write this down for weeks. A friend pointed me to a little open-source project called lap that quietly solved my biggest photo headache: I have about 60,000 pictures scattered across old drives, and every cloud tool I tried wanted to upload everything somewhere. Lap just runs locally. It indexed my whole library overnight, and now I can search by date, place, or even random keywords without a single byte leaving my machine. Offline browsing is fast, tagging is simple, and the privacy-first approach finally feels honest instead of marketing fluff. If you're sitting on a messy archive like mine, it's worth a look. I found everything at lapphotos.com and haven't opened my old gallery app since.
