Gladia still completes the WebSocket handshake on a live job that has already ended. The open event fires. The socket then closes with 4403.
Treating that open as a successful reconnect sets the backoff back to zero, and the client dials the same wsUrl again. The ceiling never arrives, because the wait never gets to grow.
A close code from 4000 to 4999 means the live job is finished. The same URL only repeats the handshake. A new POST /v2/live returns a fresh URL, and that call is capped at two in five minutes.
The backoff resets only after the socket has stayed up for five seconds. A handshake that dies on 4403 does not clear the timer.
If the browser has already detached, the service closes the upstream socket and skips the new live job. The same checks run in LiveSuggest before a reconnect is attempted.
