DK Developer community recap: Community Panel

Microsoft Ignite is an annual conference for developers and IT professionals. The first conference, then known as TechEd, happened in 1993 in Orlando, Florida, United States. In 2020, it went all online.

This year together with my good colleague Rasmus Jaqué, I got the chance to host a a session about developer community in Denmark & highlights of their projects & initiatives. This is a short recap about this session.

Community Panel

For those of you who know me in person you all know that community is super important to me. I believe I not only developed my technical skills via community but also I gained many soft skills by getting involved in organizing community events, mentoring others or speak at event.
Because of the importance of this topic Rasmus and I organized a panel discussion with three of most active community leaders whom are behind many different community driven events in Denmark.

In this session, panelists are talking about the communities they are leading, their top learnings and why they believe all of you should look around to find various community driven initiatives and get yourself involved.

Morten Christensen
Morten works at Umbraco HQ where he helps build Umbraco Cloud and the Headless Cloud offering. Morten is also an Azure MVP, Azure Lover and community addict. He lives in Copenhagen where he helps organize meetups and other community events. When he is not working on Azure or doing Community events you can find him either learning about the newest things in Azure or building/buying LEGO sets (there should probably have been a "LEGO addict" part somewhere in this profile as well - according to his bank account statements).

Marilag Dimatulac
Marilag is the Co-Founder and Chief Solution Architect at Dewise, a software development company based in Copenhagen and Manila. To give back to the tech community, she organize events for Azure User Group Denmark and Manila, and speaks regularly at meetups and conferences. She lives two lives on each side of the planet, defying distance, abolishing cross-cultural barriers and scaling walls, to work, play and spend time with wonderfully diverse people.

Lisa Mallner
Lisa is an AI Investment Manager at Copenhagen Capacity and supports business development for high tech companies into Greater Copenhagen. She is an active community builder and supporter of the Nordic startup ecosystem. She is also a project manager Nordic.AI, a nonprofit that supports the AI & ML ecosystem in the Nordics, an organizer of Women Techmakers Copenhagen and the AI Copenhagen meetup group, and runs an English-language news website, Nordic Startup News, for early stage startups.
