FreeToolsHub: One Free Tools Directory, Deployed Across 9 Hosting Platforms

Building a web project is one thing.

Making that project easy to deploy, test, mirror, migrate, and distribute across different hosting platforms is another.

For FreeToolsHub, I decided to experiment with exactly that idea.

FreeToolsHub is a hand-picked directory of free online tools covering categories such as AI, SEO, image, video, PDF, developer, and social media tools. The current site contains more than 50 tools across 8 categories, with a simple goal: make useful online tools easier to discover without requiring users to create an account just to browse.

What makes the project interesting is that the same website is currently available through several different hosting platforms.

The goal isn't to create nine completely different websites.

The goal is to see how the same web project behaves across different deployment environments.


What Is FreeToolsHub?

FreeToolsHub is a free online tools directory designed to help users quickly discover useful web-based software.

The site currently organizes tools into several major categories:

The homepage focuses on discovery rather than forcing users through a complicated onboarding process.

Why Deploy the Same Website to Multiple Platforms?

At first glance, deploying the same application to nine platforms may seem unnecessary.

In reality, it can be a useful engineering experiment.

Different hosting providers optimize for different workflows.

  • Netlify provides a mature frontend deployment workflow.
