This was a good read! Linux is amazing for coding but a lot of people aren't ready to switch from windows. Get your feet wet with WSL 2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux) Its just the terminal (Bash same as OS X) but It will get you familiar with the file system and you can even install a desktop environment like Gnome or XFCE

I've been using Windows for years and have tried Ubuntu and several other distro for coding and yes, it was faster to code in Linux than Windows. I remember when I have to commit a code it takes about 2-3 times longer in Windows than in Linux, I was surprised because I can reproduce that using WSL.
But the only thing stopping me from using Linux completely is because I rely heavily on Visual Studio. For now I'm quite happy using Windows and WSL.
What make you productive as a coder is, the tiling window manager.
Please, stop referencing .NET as proprietary technology. It's over it. New versions are cross-platform and officially supported on Linux. dotnet.microsoft.com/
