The article analyzes the evolution of technological thought, leading from Aristotle's ancient syllogistics to modern computer science. The author points to a key process of abstraction: the transition from linguistic rules of reasoning, through George Boole's algebraization of logic, to the physical implementation of electrical circuits thanks to the work of Claude Shannon. The text emphasizes an important distinction between the formalization of human thinking and the conscious borrowing of biological mechanisms (biomimetics).
