This checks the lead's state from the CRM data and displays the two-party consent warning only when needed. Agents in Florida, California, and the other 11 all-party consent states see the warning. Agents calling into one-party states don't get distracted by it.


The 16 Mistakes That Kill Call Center Scripting

Structural Mistakes

1. Scripts read as monologues, not conversations. If any single section has the agent talking for more than 15 seconds without a pause or question, it's too long. Cut it. Every section should end with a question or a transition that invites the customer to respond.

2. No branching -- just a long document. Agents scroll past 80% of the content to find the 20% that's relevant. By the time they find it, the customer has already sensed the dead air and disconnected. Use button-driven branching so agents only see what matters right now.

8. Agents can't handle off-script questions. If a customer asks something the script doesn't cover, untrained agents freeze. Build a "Common Questions" branch in every script -- a searchable FAQ section that covers the top 20 questions customers ask that aren't part of the main flow.

Content Mistakes

11. Generic openers that don't differentiate. "Hi, I'm calling from Company X about an exciting opportunity" could be any telemarketer on earth. Operational Mistakes

14. No script analytics. If you don't know which branch paths lead to conversions and which lead to hangups, you can't improve the script. Log every branch click. 15. Scripts that don't match the campaign. Reusing a B2C solar script for a B2B commercial install campaign because "it's close enough" destroys credibility. Each campaign type needs its own script. Same branching framework, different content.

16. Never updating scripts after launch. The best scripts are living documents. Review conversion data weekly. When a new objection starts appearing, add a branch. When a pricing change happens, update the numbers. When an agent finds a phrase that converts better, test it as the new default.

If agents are deviating from the script (skipping the compliance disclosure, jumping straight to the close without qualifying), you'll see it in their disposition patterns. Top performers with high conversion AND consistent average talk time are following the script. High conversion with wildly variable talk times means they're improvising -- might work for now, but it doesn't scale and it creates compliance risk.
