I think I just got hit with one of those fake trading platform phishing scams and I’m still trying to understand how fast it happened.
A guy I met in a crypto Discord server sent me a link to what looked like a new AI trading dashboard. Honestly the site looked real enough. Charts moving, live trades, wallet connect button, even fake community comments. I connected my wallet because I only planned to look around and maybe test a small trade.
Big mistake.
About 15 minutes later I started getting transaction notifications I didn’t approve. At first I thought maybe it was delayed swaps from another app, but then I saw my USDT and a couple of tokens getting transferred out one by one into another address.
The weird thing is I never gave anyone my seed phrase. That’s why I got confused. I only connected the wallet and signed one transaction that looked like a login verification.
After panicking and searching stuff like “wallet drained after connecting to trading site” and “tokens stolen after signing contract,” I realized these phishing sites can use malicious smart contract approvals. Basically I approved access without understanding what I was signing.
The scammer disappeared right after too. Discord account gone. Telegram profile gone. Trading website suddenly offline a few hours later.
I’m posting this because the setup was way more convincing than the usual obvious crypto scams. If your wallet gets drained right after connecting to some random exchange or trading platform, disconnect everything immediately and revoke permissions before more assets move.
I’m currently documenting the wallet addresses and transaction hashes because someone recommended gathering everything early if there’s any chance of tracing the transfers later. Another victim in a crypto recovery discussion mentioned Jim Recovery Team after a similar wallet approval exploit, so I’ve been reading through those threads trying to figure out what steps actually make sense and which “recovery experts” are just another scam layer.
Still kicking myself for clicking that link.
