Ambulance application

The main aim is to save as many lives as possible during a medical emergency
During an emergency situation all a person can think of is calling an ambulance (Dial 108 Emergency Ambulance Service in India). The guy you call up insists you to find some other ambulance as his vehicle is pretty far from your place. When you try the other number, he says he will need at least 20 minutes to reach the spot.

The average response time taken to reach a patient in urban areas is around 14 minutes while in rural areas it is around 26 – 28 minutes. The total time taken by an ambulance from the time it is called is one hour two minutes- which is called the “Golden Hour”. Golden Hour includes the time the ambulance is called for, the patient is picked from the victim’s place, paramedic examining the patient, taking the patient to the hospital and admitting him to the hospital. The domain of Emergency medical Network is no longer limited to actual in-hospital treatment from arrival to stabilization. It has expanded to pre-hospital care and transportation.

The disadvantages of 108 services are as follows

  • Limited Coverage:
The service might not be available in all regions of the country, especially in remote and underserved areas. This limited coverage can result in delays in reaching patients in emergency situations.

  • Response Time:
Despite its best efforts, the 108 Emergency Ambulance Service may face challenges in meeting the target response time due to factors like traffic congestion, distance, or inadequate road infrastructure, particularly in urban areas.

  • Resource Allocation:
In some cases, there might be a shortage of ambulances or medical personnel, leading to delays in dispatching an ambulance to an emergency.

  • Training and Skill Level:
The effectiveness of emergency medical services heavily depends on the training and skill level of the ambulance staff. Ensuring that all personnel are well-trained and capable of handling diverse medical emergencies can be a challenge.

  • Misuse:
There have been instances of people misusing the emergency services for non-emergency situations, which can strain the resources and affect the availability of ambulances for actual emergencies.

  • Coordination with Other Healthcare Providers:
In complex emergency situations, seamless coordination with other healthcare providers and hospitals is crucial. Lack of effective communication and coordination can impact patient outcomes.

  • Funding and Sustainability:
Like any public service, the funding and sustainability of the 108 Emergency Ambulance Service can be a concern. Adequate financial support is necessary to maintain and expand the service to meet the increasing demand.

India is currently lagging behind other countries in terms of health care due to a shortage of fast health services. The primary explanation for this is a lack of technical implementation. To fix this question, we can implement a mobile-based ambulance service. This mobile application would revolutionize the way people use emergency services and make them more effective and reliable to an extent. The request for an ambulance works with only one tap on the button, and it will transmit a notification/request for an ambulance via GPRS to local ambulance drivers, with the user's information and location registered in the database (admin system). Any mobile consumer can benefit from the use of the Internet of Things and smartphone technologies. The application uses the Google Map Application Programming Interface (API) to plot details of the ambulance on Google Maps on the Client's cell phone, based on position data obtained from GPS hardware. The same functionalities can be extended to other facilities, making it easier for the customer to locate an ambulance.
