I've been thinking about one question for a long time:
What would education look like if we combined great teachers with the power of modern technology and AI?
That question is what led me to start building The Genius Institute.
And this isn't just another website.
I'm trying to build an EdTech ecosystem designed with Zimbabwean learners and teachers in mind.
🇿🇼 Why Zimbabwe?
Zimbabwe has a strong culture of education.
But the way we learn is changing rapidly.
Students now have access to smartphones, computers, artificial intelligence, online resources and an enormous amount of information.
The challenge isn't simply access to information anymore.
The challenge is:
How do we turn all of that information into meaningful learning?
That's where I believe EdTech can make a difference.
🤖 AI + Teachers, Not AI Instead of Teachers
AI is changing education incredibly quickly.
It can explain concepts, generate questions, create learning materials, assist teachers and provide students with additional support.
But I don't believe the future of education is:
«Teacher vs AI»
I believe it is:
«Teacher + AI»
A great teacher brings something technology cannot easily replicate—human understanding, mentorship, encouragement, experience and connection.
AI can become a powerful assistant.
The teacher remains the educator.
📚 Building Around ZIMSEC
One of the biggest things I want to solve is local relevance.
A Zimbabwean learner preparing for ZIMSEC shouldn't have to depend entirely on platforms designed around completely different curricula.
The Genius Institute is being developed with ZIMSEC O Level and A Level learning at its core.
The vision is to provide:
- Interactive lessons
- Topic-based learning
- Practice questions
- Revision resources
- Digital books and learning materials
- Teacher support
- AI-assisted learning
- Progress tracking
- A digital educational library
Everything should work together rather than existing as disconnected resources.
💻 The Interesting Part: Building the Product
From a technology perspective, this is where things become really exciting.
Building an EdTech platform isn't just about creating beautiful pages.
There are questions around:
How should lessons work?
How should students track their progress?
How should teachers interact with learners?
How can AI be integrated responsibly?
How do we make the platform useful on mobile devices?
How do we deal with connectivity and data limitations?
How do we protect student information?
How do we build something scalable?
These are the problems I'm interested in solving.
🧠 Learning Should Become More Interactive
I don't want online learning to simply mean:
PDF → Read → Next
There is so much more that technology can do.
Imagine a learner studying Chemistry.
Instead of simply reading a page about filtration, they could:
- Learn the concept.
- Watch or interact with an explanation.
- Explore the apparatus.
- Answer questions.
- Receive immediate feedback.
- Ask an AI learning assistant for clarification.
- Complete a short assessment.
- Track their progress.
That feels much closer to how modern software should approach education.
📖 The Digital Library
Another part of the vision is creating a digital library where learners can discover educational resources organised around their subjects and learning needs.
Instead of searching through countless files and websites, students should have a structured place to find what they need.
A digital library for the digital generation.
👨🏫 And Teachers Are Part of the Platform
This is important.
The Genius Institute isn't intended to remove teachers from education.
Quite the opposite.
I want teachers to become an important part of the ecosystem.
Technology should help teachers spend less time on repetitive work and more time doing what matters:
Teaching.
AI could assist with preparation.
Digital tools could assist with assessment.
Learning analytics could help identify areas where students struggle.
But the teacher remains at the centre.
🌍 Building From Zimbabwe
There's something exciting about building technology from Zimbabwe.
We don't have to wait for someone elsewhere to solve every problem for us.
Zimbabwean developers can build.
Zimbabwean teachers can innovate.
Zimbabwean entrepreneurs can create.
And Zimbabwean students can become users, creators and future builders themselves.
The goal isn't simply to create a platform for Zimbabwe.
The long-term ambition is to explore what can be built in Zimbabwe and eventually for Africa.
🚧 This Is Still Being Built
The Genius Institute is a work in progress.
There will be technical challenges.
There will be things that don't work the first time.
There will be features that need to be redesigned.
And there will be plenty of lessons along the way.
I'm choosing to share the journey because I believe building in public creates something valuable:
Accountability.
And hopefully, other developers, teachers, designers, founders and students can learn something from the process too.

I'm working toward building an ecosystem that brings together:
Education + Teachers + AI + Software + Content + Community
The ultimate goal is simple:
«Make learning more accessible, interactive, intelligent and relevant to the learner.»
This is only the beginning.
I'm building The Genius Institute.
