Found this in a project I touched eight months ago. No context. No memory of writing it. Just vibes.
# TODO: fix this properly
# - me, 2 years ago
def is_active(status):
if status == True:
return True
else:
return False
The TODO was two years old.
And right below it, completely unbothered:
print("here1")
print("here2")
print("WHY IS THIS NOT WORKING")
Still in production. Nobody has touched it since.
The funniest part is I genuinely don't remember why any of this existed. At some point "temporary debugging" quietly became part of the architecture.
Crime scene rating: 10/10.
What's the most cursed thing you've found in your own codebase? Drop the snippet. No judgment. I'll go first.
