A little late to share this one - but definitely worth documenting.
Back on June 27, 2026, I had the opportunity to attend the inaugural AWS User Group Trivandrum Launch Meetup, marking the beginning of a new AWS User Group community in Kerala.
Although Iām posting this recap a few months after the event, the experience and the conversations from that day are still worth sharing.
The Beginning of AWS User Group Trivandrum
The meetup brought together 60+ cloud enthusiasts, students, developers, architects, and professionals for an evening focused on learning, networking, and community building.
The event was led by Farzan F A, Lead of AWS User Group Trivandrum, and featured technical sessions from AWS professionals along with opportunities to connect with other members of the cloud community.
GenAI on AWS
The first technical session was delivered by Reethi Joseph, Senior AI/MLOps Engineer at AWS, covering Generative AI on AWS.
The session explored the fundamentals of Generative AI, AWS services that can be used to build AI applications, and practical use cases. It was particularly interesting to see how these technologies are being approached from a real-world AWS perspective.
Introduction to Amazon EKS
The second session was presented by Shibu Jacob, Senior Solutions Architect at AWS, focusing on Amazon EKS.
Starting with Kubernetes fundamentals, the session covered how Amazon EKS simplifies container orchestration on AWS, along with architecture, deployment concepts, and best practices.
It was a valuable session for understanding how Kubernetes fits into the AWS ecosystem.
Networking & Community
One of the highlights of the meetup was the opportunity to interact with other AWS enthusiasts and professionals.
Beyond the technical sessions, the networking break created a space to exchange ideas, meet people from different backgrounds, and connect with others interested in cloud and AWS technologies.
The event concluded with an interactive Kahoot quiz based on the two technical sessions, with prizes awarded to the top three participants.
More Than Just a Meetup
What stood out to me was that this wasn't simply a technical event.
It was the beginning of a new AWS community in Trivandrum, bringing together people at different stages of their cloud journey -from students and beginners to experienced professionals.
Being able to attend the very first meetup of a new community made the experience even more meaningful.
A Little Late, But Worth Sharing
I should have shared this recap much earlier.
The meetup happened back in June, and somehow this event recap ended up waiting until September. š
But rather than letting the memory disappear into the timeline, I wanted to finally document the experience and appreciate everyone who contributed to making the inaugural meetup happen.
A big thanks to the AWS User Group Trivandrum organizing team, speakers, and everyone who attended for creating such a great starting point for the community.
Looking forward to seeing how AWS User Group Trivandrum continues to grow and to being part of more AWS community experiences across Kerala.
One meetup down. Many more to come.
