Amazon has introduced two wearable AI devices from startup Bee: a wristband and a phone accessory that listen to conversations and generate summaries.
Bee says recordings are processed in real time and deleted; both devices include a microphone control and an indicator light.
The launch has prompted concerns about recording people nearby without permission, making audio handling and user-visible controls key details in the product story.
The two new products are the Bee Frontier, a $74,99 bracelet, and the Bee Eclipse, a $99,99 phone accessory. The bracelet has a 7-day battery life, while the phone accessory offers 21 days of battery life.
How do they work
The devices use built-in microphones to "listen" to the environment in real time. According to the company, conversations are processed immediately and then deleted. Each device has a dedicated button to control the microphone, as well as a light indicator that shows those around you when the microphone is active.
Privacy issues
The devices' launch has already sparked backlash from consumers, who are concerned about recording others without their consent. The company says the recordings are not stored permanently, so they cannot be listened to again later.
