Amazon has announced a shift in its US food delivery ecosystem, transitioning its integration from Grubhub to Uber Eats.
The new service allows Prime members to order directly from Amazon interfaces without requiring a separate Uber account.
From a platform perspective, the integration aims to streamline the user experience for Prime subscribers, offering free delivery on orders over $25.
This move deepens Amazon’s existing commercial ties with Uber, building on their ongoing collaborations in cloud infrastructure and autonomous systems.
What's changing for Prime subscribers
Prime subscribers can now order food through Uber Eats directly from the Amazon website or app. A major convenience for users is that they don't need to create a separate account on the Uber platform to complete the order.
Under the new partnership, Amazon will not charge shipping fees for orders over $25. In addition, for the first two weeks of the partnership, users will receive a $20 discount on their first order if it exceeds $25.
The end of the partnership with Grubhub
The partnership with Grubhub officially ends on Thursday. Amazon began its partnership with the company in 2022, and in December 2024, it divested its stake in the company.
