Amazon has refreshed its entry-level 6-inch Kindle lineup with a flat edge-to-edge glass face, a slimmer profile, and a new aluminum-backed tier.
The $149.99 base model includes 16GB storage and lock-screen ads, while the $189.99 aluminum version offers 32GB without ads, keeping display specs and performance unchanged.
The new 6-inch device now features a single glass front without the old plastic bezels, and comes in two versions: the basic plastic one and a more expensive one with an aluminum back. Despite the aesthetic upgrade, the device's operating speed remains unchanged and exhibits the same delays as the previous model. Also, unlike other models from the company, it does not feature water protection.
Prices and storage space
The basic plastic version costs $149,99 and has 16 gigabytes of storage. The aluminum version costs $189,99 and doubles the storage to 32 gigabytes. Compared to the previous model, the new device is slightly thinner by 0,2 inches. The plastic version weighs 4,9 ounces, while the aluminum version weighs 5,7 ounces.
Screen and lighting
The device features a 6-inch black-and-white display with a resolution of 300 pixels per inch, offering sharp text. The built-in lighting on the front has adjustable brightness, but the color temperature is fixed at cool, blue tones.
