Amazon's latest Echo Show 8 introduces the AZ3 Pro processor, optimized for AI workloads.
The new hardware powers Alexa+, an assistant designed for natural language processing, alongside the Omnisense sensor for ultrasonic motion detection.
The device maintains smart home interoperability through integrated support for Matter and Zigbee protocols.
This release highlights the shift towards dedicated local AI acceleration in consumer smart home hardware.
The new generation Echo Show
The Echo Show 8 (fourth generation) costs $179,99 and has an 8,7-inch display with a resolution of 1.340 by 800 pixels. Inside is the new AZ3 Pro processor, which includes a special accelerator for artificial intelligence functions. At the same time, the Echo Show 11 was released, priced at $219,99, which replaces the previous Echo Show 10 model and features a more advanced sound system with two full-range speakers and a 2,8-inch woofer.
The digital assistant Alexa+
The new devices support Alexa+, an upgraded version of Amazon's digital assistant. Alexa+ allows users to have more natural conversations, without having to use specific words or syntax to be understood. Starting next year, the service is expected to cost $19,99 per month, and will also be available as part of the Amazon Prime subscription, which costs $14,99 per month.
Motion detection and smart home
The Echo Show 8 features the new Omnisense sensor, which detects movement in the room using ultrasound and Wi-Fi radar technology. The devices also support Matter and Zigbee protocols, allowing them to control other smart home devices. In addition, the Echo Show 11 offers facial recognition, so it automatically displays personalized information to each user.
