Apple's new MacBook Pros come with touchscreens and M5 processors

Apple has refreshed its MacBook Pro lineup, introducing touchscreen capability through new PROLED XDR (Tandem OLED) displays.

The latest 14 and 16-inch models run on M5 Pro and M5 Max silicon, supplemented by the N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity.

The updated hardware retains essential I/O including Thunderbolt 5, HDMI, and SD card support, while moving to a thinner and lighter chassis.

These devices are scheduled for general release on November 6, 2026.

Touch screen and new display technology

The new MacBook Pro features a PROLED XDR display, which uses two layers of OLED for better performance. The display supports up to 2.000 nits of brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth motion. In addition, the models incorporate Dynamic Island, which makes it easier to manage file searches and commands to the digital assistant Siri.

Design and connectivity

The new devices are thinner and lighter than previous versions. On the outside, the illuminated Apple logo on the lid returns. Despite the slimmer design, the company has kept the connectivity ports, including Thunderbolt 5, HDMI, SD card reader, headphone jack, and the MagSafe charging port.

Performance and prices

Inside the new computers are the M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, while for wireless communication the N1 chip is used, which offers support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Prices start at $2.899 for the 14-inch model and $3.399 for the 16-inch version. Their market launch is scheduled for November 6, 2026.
