Artificial intelligence advocacy group raises over $140 million for election

A pro-AI political funding network has raised over $140 million for the midterms with backing from major tech investors.

Recent disclosures and FEC complaints examine millions in payments routed through mysterious Nevada LLCs.

Leading the Future is backed by prominent investors including Marc Andreessen, Ben Horowitz and Greg Brockman, and the money is earmarked for political campaigns ahead of the midterm elections.

Payments to companies in Nevada

Four mysterious Nevada companies received payments from the network’s political committees. Think Big gave about $20 million to Lantern Production Consultants since last year, which has a P.O. box address in a shopping mall. American Mission gave about $13 million to Summit Ridge Media Group between December 2025 and September 2026, which has a mail-order business address in a shopping mall.

Two more companies, Blue Horizon Compliance Consultants and Prusik Partners, list addresses at a retail store and a shopping mall in Nevada.

The complaint and the response

In May, the Center for Legal Elections filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, alleging that Think Big and American Mission violated the law by failing to disclose the true recipients of the payments.

A spokesperson for Leading the Future denied the allegations via email. The committee does not have the necessary quorum of commissioners and cannot currently make decisions on legal complaints.

Think Big funds primarily Democrats, while American Mission funds Republicans. The Center for Election Law also filed complaints against Brandon Herrera's campaign and the Lead Left PAC over their use of similar companies.
