Attack on Chainalysis systems exposed passwords and digital keys

Chainalysis is investigating an AI-driven cyber attack that exposed user credentials and live tokens.

The incident forced key analytics APIs, screening products, and login interfaces offline, requiring manual support intervention and IP allowlisting for access restoration.

Which tools and services were temporarily down?

The company temporarily removed access to Reactor and Data Solutions tools. It also disabled the login page, transaction and address verification tools. As a precaution, it has locked the affected accounts.

Customers who received an email to change their password were unable to do so immediately. Chainalysis says it has no evidence that the research data fell into the wrong hands or that any information about the perpetrators’ identities was compromised.

How will access be restored?

To get back into the systems, customers will need to contact customer support and provide specific network addresses they consider confidential so they can be added to a special list. They will then be able to change their password and replace their digital keys.
