Microsoft disclosed Azure quarterly revenue in dollars for the first time, reporting $33.2 billion for the July-September quarter, a 48% year-over-year increase.
The numbers offer a rare detailed look at cloud infrastructure growth, sitting alongside Alphabet's $30.7 billion Google Cloud revenue report for the same period.
This represents a 48% increase over the same period last year. At the same time, Google announced that its own corresponding service brought in $30,7 billion for the same quarter.
According to TechCrunch's calculations, Google's revenue nearly doubled from last year, growing at about twice the rate of Azure. However, in absolute terms, Azure came out slightly ahead.
Azure revenue beat analysts’ estimates of $32,3 billion by about $850 million. The 48% growth rate also beat the 44% to 45% guidance that CFO Amy Hood had given in her July earnings call.
