Bazzite 45 arrives on Fedora 45 with Linux kernel 7.2.15, Mesa 26.2.6, and an integrated anti-cheat compatibility checker for upcoming Linux implementations.
The release also features ZSTD-compressed incremental updates and updated desktop environments.
Compatibility check for game protection
The update brings a new checker tool that prepares the system for upcoming support for games that use special protection systems from Epic Games. The tool checks security settings such as secure boot, locked system partitions, and additional protections.
However, the developers recommend that mobile users not enable kernel locking, and Steam Deck owners are also explicitly warned not to enable secure boot.
Better support for new hardware
Bazzite 45 expands compatibility with various gaming devices. Initial support for the Acer Predator Atlas 8 is available, while support for the ROG Ally X20 has moved to the stable channel. In addition, automatic support for Logitech racing wheels has been expanded and the software that helps controllers work properly with Steam has been updated.
Smaller and faster updates
In terms of maintenance, the system now uses new compression methods and intelligent file management. According to the creators, these changes can reduce the size of daily updates to even 100 megabytes.
