OpenAI has extended the capabilities of its ChatGPT Chrome extension, now allowing the sidebar to read and process content from all open browser tabs.
This update facilitates complex multi-step automation, such as cross-tab data extraction, document filling, and calendar synchronization.
The extension is compatible with Chromium-based browsers like Edge, Brave, and Opera.
Developers and users can now leverage these browser-wide hooks to streamline workflows that require context across multiple web pages.
With this new feature, users can ask ChatGPT for more personalized answers based on the web pages they have open. For example, someone can ask to compare sofas from three different tabs based on dimensions, price, delivery time, and return policy.
Complex tasks and history management
Additionally, those using the ChatGPT Work feature can assign complex multi-step actions to the assistant, such as sending messages, filling in times, organizing cards, and adding programs to calendars. Another feature is the analysis of terms from various contractors in open cards, so that a relevant email can then be prepared.
The ChatGPT sidebar in Chrome now has access to the entire user history. The add-on is available for all subscription plans and works in browsers based on the same core as Chrome, such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Opera.
