Contour 0.8 released with faster performance and new features

Contour 0.8 is out, bringing interactive command blocks, status indicators, and massive C++ terminal rendering speedups.

New order tracking features

The biggest change is the addition of interactive sections for commands. The program can now track each command individually, showing how long it took, what its completion status was, and what folder it was executed in. Failed commands are highlighted in red, while those currently executing are highlighted in yellow.

Users can hide multiple command results on a single line, using a new area for line numbers and timestamps. A fixed section at the top of the screen keeps each command visible even when scrolling. In addition, there is the ability to navigate between commands with special key combinations, receive notifications for long-running tasks, and automatically detect web addresses and file paths so they can be opened with a click.

Faster speed and better performance

In terms of speed, the benchmarks show significant improvements. Processing plain and colored text is much faster, while performance in full-screen applications is significantly improved. At the same time, a support function for high-demand graphics has been added, improving tasks that load a lot of images.

Wider compatibility and fixes

The new version expands collaboration with the main command environments used by users, adds support for modern monitoring systems, and allows the selection of the graphics card for displaying data on Linux and Windows.

Finally, the update fixes several issues that caused freezes, sudden shutdowns, excessive memory usage, and difficulties closing or resizing windows, making the operation more stable overall.
