Google launches Fitbit Edge with built-in GPS for $180

Google has announced the Fitbit Edge smartwatch and Fitbit Inspire 3, detailing hardware specifications, sensor capabilities, and pricing.

The release outlines the integration of built-in GPS, Bluetooth 5.4, ECG monitoring, and expanded activity detection alongside display and battery metrics.

Design and prices

Both models feature AMOLED displays. The Fitbit Edge stands out thanks to its 100% recycled aluminum construction and side button, while the Fitbit Inspire 3 has a plastic case.

The Edge comes in olive, black, white and salmon, priced at $180. There's also a special Steph Curry orange edition signed by the famous athlete, which costs $220. On the other hand, the Inspire 3 is available in pink, orange and black, with a significantly lower price of $99,95.

Mobile autonomy and connectivity

The Fitbit Edge has built-in GPS, giving you 40% more accurate tracking of your steps, so you can track your steps without having to carry your smartphone.

Additionally, the Edge supports Bluetooth 5.4 technology for direct connection to wireless headphones. Its battery lasts up to a week on a single charge, while the Inspire 3 offers up to 10 days of battery life.

Exercise and health data

The Edge automatically recognizes 100 different activities and tracks over 50 types of exercises, as opposed to the Inspire 3's 20 modes. In the health department, the Edge has an app for detecting irregular heart rhythms, monthly estimates for blood pressure and insulin resistance, as well as skin temperature sensors.

The Inspire 3 is based on an optical heart rate sensor, blood oxygen monitoring, and an accelerometer.

Water and dust resistance

Both watches are 5ATM waterproof, meaning they can withstand rain and shallow swimming. Additionally, the Fitbit Edge is IP68 dust-resistant, a feature the Inspire 3 lacks.
