A detailed new profile outlines Xbox's hardware strategy, including the upcoming Project Helix system designed for both console and PC titles.

The report highlights how rising RAM and component costs driven by AI infrastructure are impacting projected hardware pricing, alongside release timelines and potential service tier changes.

This information was revealed in a tribute to the new CEO of Xbox, Asha Sharma, which was published on October 20, 2026. The price of the device is estimated to range between $1.200 and $1.800. The final cost depends on the prices of components, such as memory, which are increasing due to the huge demand caused by the development of artificial intelligence. However, there is a possibility that Microsoft will choose to subsidize the hardware to reduce the price.

In an interview in August, Sharma said that Project Helix will be a family of devices. According to the timeline, the first hardware release is expected to be a handheld device for the holiday season of 2027, while the full console is planned for the same period in 2028.

Xbox currently has 100 million daily active users, with a goal of reaching 1 billion. Meanwhile, sources told Fortune that the company’s subscription service may gain separate pricing options for console games, online games and multiplayer. On the staff side, new rounds of layoffs are expected in October 2026, with additional cuts in November and January.
