KDE Linux enabled the ntsync kernel module by default in October 2026 to improve gaming performance via Wine and Proton.
The update also includes storage migration to KDE S3-based servers, new contribution linting checks, and progress toward its beta milestone.
This change is done automatically, so users don't have to tinker with any settings themselves. Beyond the gameplay part, the team also worked on other parts of the system.
New features and fixes
New additions include a simple informational presentation that appears during system setup, and a fix for an issue that caused the letters on the unlock screen to appear distorted when someone locked the entire computer drive.
The system information application now shows exactly which version the computer is running, such as the testing version. An additional graphics communication toolkit has been added to the base system, while changes have been made to the storage and update systems, which have been moved to KDE repositories.
