Netflix has announced the layoff of approximately 1,000 employees, accounting for roughly 6% of its global workforce.
This move marks the company's largest reduction in staff since 2022.
While the company continues to expand its footprint in gaming, podcasts, and live sports streaming, these changes come amidst a shifting corporate strategy, including the recent decision to drop the planned Warner Bros. acquisition.
Leadership maintains that 2026 financial goals remain on track.
This is the largest number of job cuts the company has made since 2022, when it had laid off approximately 450 people.
The economic picture and strategic decisions
The company's co-CEOs, Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, confirmed that the decision does not affect its financial targets for this year. According to the figures, Netflix recorded revenue of $45,2 billion for 2025.
This move follows the company's withdrawal of interest in the acquisition of Warner Bros., which was announced earlier in 2026. At the same time, Netflix continues to invest in new areas of activity, beyond the production of films and series, such as gaming, podcasts and live sports broadcasts.
