Sequoia changes structure, closes London office and halts two programs

Sequoia Capital released a strategic memo outlining a major structural shift that rolls back nearly two decades of expansion.

The updates include closing the London office, shutting down the Arc and Scouts programs, merging early-stage and growth teams, and streamlining leadership under seven general partners alongside a fresh $10 billion fundraise.

Sequoia is closing its London office, which it opened in 2020, as well as its Arc and Scouts programs. Other investment firms, including Andreessen Horowitz and Coatue, have also closed their London offices earlier.

The firm is merging its early-stage and growth investment teams into one. It is also eliminating the traditional Monday partner meeting. The partner structure is becoming flatter, and the firm will operate with seven general partners: Alfred Lin, Pat Grady, Andrew Reed, Sean Maguire, Konstantin Buhler, Sonya Huang and David Kahn.

Luciana Lixandru accepted an offer to move to San Francisco, but declined and chose to remain in Europe. She will maintain her board positions and continue to make personal investments.
