SpaceX is testing quarterly dynamic pricing for Starlink residential plans, adjusting costs based on local network demand and capacity.
Website code indicates pricing fluctuations are temporarily capped at twenty percent, with both increases and decreases observed across select regions.
How are new prices formed?
Users in areas of the United States, including Kansas and Missouri, received emails from SpaceX about the changes. For example, a subscriber in Missouri saw his basic plan go up from $50 to $60,50 starting November 30, while another user in the same state saw his fastest home plan go up to $156 from $130.
In some areas, such as the city of Rolla, the new registration defaults to the most expensive package at $156, while in Warsaw the price is $143.
Reductions in some areas
Not all changes are upward, however. In areas such as Kansas City and Marysville, prices for residential packages are showing a decline. Similar price reductions have been seen in Great Britain, according to an executive at a company that undertakes installations.
