Starlink has introduced its Wi-Fi 7 'Router 4' for new residential subscribers in the US and Canada, replacing the previous Wi-Fi 6 hardware.
The new device offers expanded coverage up to 3,500 square feet and faster client connections, while users retain the option to use bypass mode with third-party routers.
Where and to whom is it addressed?
The company announced via social media that the new device is starting to ship to new subscribers of its 200 Mbps and Max home plans in the United States and Canada. The new equipment replaces an older model that supported previous technology and came with a standard antenna.
According to the company's support page, the new device is designed for faster connections and greater range. The new equipment offers coverage of up to 3.500 square feet, significantly increasing the range compared to smaller models.
Daily experience and tests
Although Wi-Fi 7 technology can theoretically reach very high speeds at short distances, satellite connection typically provides download speeds between 100 and 300 Mbps. Therefore, the addition of the new equipment is mainly aimed at connection stability, better coverage and performance in areas with increased network traffic. Users can continue to use the relevant setting to connect the antenna to a third-party router.
