Steam is testing Achievement Sets in client beta, separating base game and DLC achievements with distinct color-coded progress bars and maintaining completion percentages when new content drops.
Developers must update titles to support the new categorization.
The new feature is called Achievement Sets and is already available in the beta version of the Steam app. To take advantage of the feature, game creators must update their titles, while a growing number of games already support it. With the new system, achievements can be grouped into categories, such as separately for single or multiplayer play, or even in seasonal collections.
How the new categories work
Each achievement group has its own progress bar and a special completion trophy. The overall completion rate remains at 100% even if new achievements are added later.
The sets are divided into two main categories: for the base game and for the add-ons. Achievements and progress bars for the base game are displayed in blue. In contrast, the corresponding items for the add-ons are displayed in purple and do not count towards the overall progress until the user has accessed the related content.
