Insta360 Mic is a $250 wireless microphone set that Engadget rates 8.2/10.

The review covers a setup with up to four microphones on one receiver, separate audio channels for each mic, and two receivers capturing audio from two cameras at once.

One practical detail: recordings go to a removable SD card; the microphones have no built-in storage.

Clear sound and connection to cameras

The reviewer reports that voice sounds clear at the default settings, as well as with the “Rich” and “Bright” options. Noise reduction worked well both indoors and outdoors.

Microphones can be connected directly from the menus of some Insta360 cameras, without using the receiver. The author tested this feature with the Insta360 Ace Pro 2, Luna Ultra, and Luna Pro.

Up to four microphones can be connected to one receiver. The sound from each microphone can be recorded on a separate channel. Two receivers can also be used so that two cameras can record sound simultaneously.

SD card and screen

The microphones do not have their own storage. Recordings are stored on a removable SD card, which the user can replace when it is full. However, there is a possibility that the card may be forgotten or damaged.

The screen can display custom images, such as a show's logo. The microphones are larger than those on the DJI Mic 3 and GoPro, according to the review.

Prices and alternatives

The Insta360 Mic is a simpler and cheaper version of the Mic Pro, which costs $330. A single Insta360 Mic sells for $80.

There are cheaper options: the Hollyland Lark 2 costs $70, while the Lark Max 2 costs $300. The author thinks the Insta360 Mic offers good performance, but there are cheaper solutions for those who only need two microphones and a receiver.
